Open Sessions Conversations: Carolyn Lambert & Sue Jeong Ka
CL: “I approach each work as a form of inquiry, an opportunity to do research and to think about a subject. In terms of translation—since I’ve been mostly working in video for the past 8 years—words, sounds and images are the means by which I most easily convey the outcomes of my research.” 〰️
SJK: “Once everything is well conceptualized, the work’s execution is a final stage in trying to communicate my ideas with an audience. However, people, the audience that engages with my work are my conceptual medium, so the final stage is also when I define in what social sphere is the work operating.” 〰️
Carolyn Lambert lives and works in Brooklyn. Her work has been shown at Eyebeam, Syracuse; Mattress Factory, Clarion; and La Mirage, Montreal. 〰️
Sue Jeong Ka lives and works in New York. Her work has been shown at the Queens Museum, Queens; the Abrons Arts Center, New York; and Alumnos47, Mexico City. 〰️
Open Sessions is a two year artist program of interdisciplinary events and exhibitions focused on drawing, organized by Rosario Güiraldes and Lisa Sigal.
