JC: “I believe in subverting ideas of aesthetics to deepen the viewer’s experience of images, objects and lines. I believe in a kind of pedagogical revolution. My art deconstructs things that already exist and reconfigures them for the social and political present.” 〰
ALO and FLO: “Your drawings appear to be a blackboard from a classroom which has the accumulated notes and text fragments from decades of American history lessons. The images map the complex and encyclopedic references which erases history in a gesture which oscillates between the poetic and violent.” 〰
JC Lenochan lives and works in New York. His work has been shown at the Weatherspoon Art Museum, Greensboro; Corridor Gallery; Brooklyn; and Flomenhaft Gallery. New York. 〰
Alexandre and Florentine Lamarche-Ovize live and work in Aubervilliers, France. Their work has been shown at the Galerie Laurent Godin, Paris; Luis Adelantado Galeria, Valencia; and Formcontent, London. 〰
Open Sessions is a two year artist program of interdisciplinary events and exhibitions focused on drawing, organized by Rosario Güiraldes and Lisa Sigal.
