ROA: “It's a fine balance between spaces of preservation and newness. Drawing is constantly challenging and innovating itself. It’s exciting to think about the future of drawing; to be able to acknowledge what came before, to sample and invent something that hasn’t been seen. Paper isn't going anywhere, neither is graphite or the line.” 〰CG: “I think The Drawing Center's work, and the future of any language, lies in seeing how these systems of language and communication need to both be preserved and allowed to morph at one and the same time.” 〰
Ruby Onyinyechi Amanze lives and works in New York and Philadelphia. Her work has been shown at the Open End Gallery, Chicago; Amsterdams Grafisch Atelier, Amsterdam; and Goodman Gallery, Johannesburg. 〰
Chitra Ganesh lives and works in Brooklyn. Her work has been shown at the Queens Museum, and Brooklyn Museum, New York; Museum of San Diego, La Jolla; Berkeley Art Museum, Berkeley; ZKM Gallery, Karlsruhe; and The Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh. 〰
Open Sessions is a two year artist program of interdisciplinary events and exhibitions focused on drawing, organized by Rosario Güiraldes and Lisa Sigal.
