A Page from the #DrawingPapers Archive

This page from Drawing Papers 63 features "Jessamy’s Wish [Inventing Transporting Machine]" drawn with ink on paper by Crust and Dirt on August 20, 2005.
For the 2006 exhibition, emerging artists Oliver Halsman Rosenberg and Clint Taniguchi, who collaborate under the name #CrustandDirt, exhibited wall drawings and scrolls made with their Instant Drawing Machine. Their playful images were generated from wishes requested via webcam from passersby in Barcelona, London, Stockholm, Shanghai, Tokyo, and New York City. While one of the team recorded the request, the other instantly drew it, and the results were beamed back to the distant participants. For the exhibition, Crust and Dirt presented the paper scrolls on which their drawings were made as well as recordings of their interactive, long-distance drawing sessions.
The Drawing Papers are a series of publications documenting The Drawing Center’s exhibitions and public programs and providing a forum for the study of drawing. -Kate Robinson, Bookstore Manager
