Guerrero’s drawings consider the landscapes of suburban California, the United States/Mexico border and the tropical spaces of Western expansion through the depiction of their deterioration and reclamation by nature as experienced by the region’s inhabitants.  Guerrero writes: “Rather than utopian backyard pools tinted in pastel, I am interested in drained backyard pools worthy of skateboarding, spray painted and trimmed with dead grass; foreclosed homes illegally trespassed; cinder block walls lined with broken glass; chain link fences interwoven with overgrowth.” 〰〰
