Drawing from the importance of the Bauhaus ideas in today’s socio-political turmoil, Irini Miga views “Shifting Points” as a point of convergence. Her composition, an abstracted version of the Bauhaus logo designed by Oskar Schlemmer in 1922, brings together painting, drawing, sculpture, design, and architecture. Schlemmer sought to represent a new human being for a new era: less as a utopian promise than as a search for meaning in the disjointed world that resulted from the First World War.
