Edwin Torres' The Statix of Latinx explores intersections of identity and resistance using poetry, audio, design and bookmaking, in collaboration with The Center for Book Arts. The phrase Latinx is a new addition to Latino and Latin@, avoiding the privileging of any single gender identity. The 'X' becomes a defining pivot, a sound, a crossing-the 'X at the catch of the throat' is, for Torres, the immigrant creating resistance against the mainstream.
