STAFF PICKS: Looking for a bite to eat in SoHo? Here is a neighborhood gem. Each Wednesday we will post a Drawing Center food fav.

Cocoron 37 is my personal go-to spot for noodles. Sure there are a million deserving ramen and udon options citywide, but Cocoron has staggering variety and specializes in a heartier option that happens to be a personal favorite. Championing buckwheat soba noodles, Cocoron 37 delivers seasonal dishes and hefty portions, the best parts of any noodle shop, with the help of their delicious, noodle of choice. Hot, cold, dipped, or seasonal, and served with a considerable selection of add ons and options for all dietary restrictions, Cocoron’s soba fills a necessary niche in a restaurant scene saturated with fatty ramen joints. The brilliant orange entranceway is hard to miss, and this time of year the cash-only spot consistently draws in chilly passers-by searching for a warm and nutritious meal. The cold dipped soba option, meanwhile, has saved me from the sweltering summer heat more than once. Plus, if you’re more in the mood for rice, Cocoron’s sister restaurant Goemon is right next door, and specializes in homey Japanese curries. -Isabella Kapur, Communications Intern
