Join us next Wednesday at 6pm for a conversation between 2016 Prix Canson finalist Lucy Skaer and Prix Canson 2016 Vice President of the Jury, Brett Littman, Curator and Executive Director at The Drawing Center.

Throughout her practice, in sculpture, print, drawing and film, Lucy Skaer (b.1975, UK) mines the conceptual possibilities of each in order to examine the shifts between dimensions, to explore the gap between object and image, and to represent the gradations between these mediums. In 2009, Lucy Skaer was shortlisted for the Turner Prize and in 2007, she represented Scotland at the 52d Venice Biennale.

Image: Lucy Skaer, Untitled, 2010. Aluminium leaf and watercolour on paper. 139 x 111 inches / 353 x 280 cm. This is an image of Henry Moore in his studio is enhanced by a figure zero. Using one of her constantly experimental printing techniques, Skaer applied size via silkscreen to the paper. She then attached aluminum leaf, which adheres only to the areas that have been sized. The portrait and the sculptures in the studio come into view and recede as light catches the aluminum foil.
