Artists have a variety of methods to make their mark. Every Friday we will share a photograph of an #ArtistInAction. “I mopped the floor with my hair.“ Janine Antoni uses her body in extreme ways to convert everyday activities into an art form. In her 1993 “Loving Care” performance, in a set of ritualized movements, she dipped her long hair into black dye and mopped the floor. Through this performance she simultaneously referred to Jackson Pollock’s action paintings--a prototypical 1950s masculine artist--while portraying a woman in a vulnerable position.
