## Caption

Our Bookstore Manager Kate Robinson was happy to demonstrate that Patte Loper is inviting visitors to draw her installation “Power Exchange Unit”, 2015, which includes salvaged material, insulating tape, vellum, Dura-lar, digital projector, laptop. “Power Exchange Unit” responds to an installation/performance piece exhibited in 2014 at The Drawing Center, in which artist Andrea Bowers gave artist and activist Suzanne Lacy academic drawing lessons. Lacy described the exchange of knowledge as an exchange of power between herself and Bowers.

Any audience member who views the piece is encouraged to draw the work from observation, instigating the exchange of visual experience between artist and audience. The drawings left in the pad will be collected, scanned and projected onto the screen, transferring power from artist to audience and back again.

On view through August 30 as a part of Open Sessions 2014-15.
