TALENT ISN’T ENOUGH!!! In today’s competitive sports market, talent may get an athlete an introduction to their dream university, but an academic success plan has to be in motion before and during an athlete’s college journey.  That said, we welcome to our starting lineup: Mr. Jaysen T. Spencer who will outline the academic rigor that is needed to compete at the next level.  Mr. Spencer will be a speaker at Game Changers Leadership and Peer Mentoring Initiative Summit & Combine May 18th, at Youngstown State University.
An experienced athletic administrator, Jaysen Spencer joined the Youngstown State Athletics family in June 2021 and serves as the Director of Athletic Academic Services and Athletic Diversity & Inclusion Designee (ADID). Mr. Spencer’s primary responsibility is providing leadership and oversight of academic success for all 21 YSU athletics teams. In addition to his responsibilities in athletic academic services, Spencer also serves at the YSU Athletics Department’s Chief Diversity Officer. In his role as the ADID, his charge is to ensure inclusive excellence and belonging for all students, staff and coaches. 
Spencer graduated from Bowling Green State University (2000) where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in Sport Management. He also received his Master of Arts degree in Exercise, Leisure and Sport from Kent State University (2004).
