This Thursday, we share more thoughts from our #InternPerspectives. Consultant Emmanuel Naranjo shares his experience from last year's internship:

"I participated in the internship program as part of Protiviti’s IT audit practice, but I was wondering if this was the field I really wanted to be in. By the end of the internship, I was certain I wanted to move away from auditing into something more technology focused. I talked to my advisors at Protiviti, and even though I had started in IT audit, they offered me a full-time job with the technology practice so that I could pursue what interested me. I had job offers from other firms, but this was a huge deciding factor in choosing Protiviti.

The internship program was a fantastic opportunity to learn what other people in the firm do. I could ask questions of everyone at all levels, and the office lead ensured I got all the information I needed to help with my decision. I also really appreciated the three advisors that were allocated to me. Interns don’t usually lead meetings, but I wanted to see if I could. I asked my advisors about it, and they suggested I ask the project manager. I got permission and led the meeting for the rest of the summer! This helped build my self-confidence and made me feel that pushing for what I wanted to achieve was okay.

When I met all the other interns at the Challenge School in Texas, I felt we were all in this together. I think that way about the office, too – everyone is there for each other. It’s a really good feeling."
