#onthisday 35 years ago in 1985, Sandy Lyle won the Open Championship by one stroke over Payne Stewart. Lyle overcame a three-stroke deficit at the start of the final round to capture the first of his two career Major Championships. He also became the first British golfer to win a Claret Jug since Tony Jacklin in 1969, and the first Scot to win an #openchampionship since Tommy Armour in 1931. #memberofthemonth #golf #claretjug
