Uganda's deputy chief justice and head of the court Richard Buteera said, “we decline to nullify the anti-homosexuality act 2023 in its entirety, neither will we grant a permanent injunction against its enforcement,” 

Uganda’s anti-homosexuality bill was given assent by the country’s president, Yoweri Museveni, in May 2023 and built on already harsh laws which criminalize gay sex, becoming some of the strictest anti-LGBTQ+ legislation in the world.
