Today my family and I took a long drive and made some serious physical efforts to get to a beautiful spot we discovered years ago.  And no, I won’t tell you where. 😉 Sometimes you have to put in the work so things stay pristine.

Sunday has become my very favorite day. 

I used to dread them. 

I always wanted them to be a day of rest, contemplation and connection to something bigger. I was taught that meant to spend Sunday in a certain kind of way. And I almost always felt low and drained afterwards.

The process of questioning the “shoulds” and status quo has transformed every facet of my life, Sunday being a huge one. Walking into a building and being surrounded by community did nothing for my spirit.  But sometimes we just walk the path we’ve always walked. Even when the view has grown stale. 

When I finally admitted I was walking the wrong direction, I got off the path and finally found joy.

I notice that people in Idaho can struggle with this concept, that what is right for one person must be correct for everyone. However, this is a sheltered perspective. There are many paths. And our own path is our business. Another’s path is theirs. That is called respect, tolerance and kindness. Yet, sometimes I still get negative comments how I find peace on Sunday. 

I’ve been saddened by some toxic and cruel messages on other local pages this week. Especially from people who do openly find joy walking into a community building on Sundays.

Choosing a life different from the masses is difficult. Don’t stop just because some of those masses don’t understand. 

I hope you find Sunday to be a day of peace and respite. However you choose to spent it. #hellomeridian #idahoinfluencer #boiseinfluencer
