Let’s check out Juniper! Last night we posted a story from our dinner at juniperon8th in Downtown Boise. We couldn’t believe how many messages we got from people asking if it was a place we recommend. WHAT??? Juniper is one of the quintessential Boise restaurants! We thought everyone knew about this local gem. But for those of you that don’t - let’s tell you a little about it. Juniper is all about local. Local eggs, non-GMO, organic ingredients, cage free chicken and grass-fed beef. They work closely with local farmers, growers, and purveyors to source products with integrity, flavor, and soul. Junipers Wine and Tap Beer list focuses on Idaho’s incredible winemakers and local brewers you may not find anywhere else. The result is Idaho food and drink that is, in their words, “honest, straightforward, and pays homage to the region we are so lucky to call home.” And it’s damn delicious. 
If we were to say there’s an “Idaho” culinary experience, you would find it here. Also - it’s right on 8th street so you can sit and watch the city pass by. Even the interior is so “Boise”. The space was brought back to life by uncovering a huge brick wall and original high windows that were covered sometime in the early 20th century. You can choose the patio, the large main dining area, the bar, or the balcony with windows overlooking Freak Alley. 
For appetizers we love the Artisanal Cheese Plate, Roasted Cauliflower (in red curry) and Baked Brie. Also their season scratch soup is always good. Main courses - The Burgers, Hot Ham and Raclette Club, Miso- Soy Glazed Salmon, Idaho Trout, Snake River Farms Beef Medallions and Shrimp Gnocchi. Don’t leave without their Flourless Chocolate Torte. For cocktails try the Idaho Sour and the “Beach Don’t Kill My Vibe”. TWO happy hours Mon- Friday 4-6pm and 10pm to close - $5 specialty cocktails.
