Ok. We are about to blow your mind. We discovered what may be the best Italian food in the valley. And you will NEVER guess where. It’s at wildwest_eagle in Eagle! We know you’re thinking, this little establishment has been in Eagle for 25 years and focuses on delicious breakfast and lunch. And they still do that. But last year the original owner retired and a family decided to purchase the restaurant. Most of this family is originally from Italy. And while they decided to keep the menu the same, they thought, with all of their Italian cooking expertise, why not add an Italian night to the venue? Now we’d heard rumors of this Italian night, but we really had no idea what we have been missing until we finally experienced it. This may be some of the most authentic Italian food we’ve experienced since actually visiting Europe. People describe it as “The kind of meal you would expect to receive from a wonderful family cook in Italy.” They bake all of their bread and baked goods in house with original family recipes. They’ve taken the most classic Italian dishes and perfected them. You’re not going to find pizza crust like this anywhere else. Or gnocchi that almost floats off the plate. Or homemade soup that tastes like it’s been simmering all day long. THIS is the kind of place we should be celebrating. When a family brings in something truly wonderful to our hometown. One of the women who does most of the baking came out to speak with us, and while she doesn’t speak a lot of English, she was able to explain that she actually writes a cooking blog that is still read by many Italian followers! Not only is the meal just lovely - they’ve kept the prices quite low. The most expensive dish is $14. Italian night is usually 4 to 9pm every Saturday, but it’s been so well received they’ve been adding Friday night as well. We’re not sure that’s going to be every weekend so you’ll want to call in advance, but we know that tonight is one of their Italian nights. - Oh! And don’t forget dessert! Tiramisu and Rum soaked cake to die for. Fresh baked muffins and sticky buns. Make this high on your list of places to try. #hellomeridian #hellomeridianeats #coccidaho
