When we joined Hope and I discovered all the classes available, the nerd in me got super excited. I wanted a closer relationship with God, but I didn’t know how to begin. The structure of classes and some teaching guidance to build my faith upon appealed to me.⁣
⁣
I started with Alpha and Core which provided safe places to ask my questions and to ponder the ways God has shown his love for me. Then, I enrolled in the Apprentice Series which explained God’s true character, helped me take a hard look at my own character, and explored what living as an apprentice of Jesus every day can look like. Lastly, I took Let Prayer Change Your Life and Listening Prayer which examined how to communicate with and hear from God. Through all of these classes, I continued to grow in my understanding of God, faith, and the gifts he gave me. The more I learned, the more eager I became to share what I was learning with others. “But, how?” I wondered.⁣
⁣
Along the way, I took a spiritual gifts questionnaire, also offered at Hope, which highly ranked knowledge and teaching as gifts God has given me to use in blessing others. Given my lifelong love of learning, I was happy to receive this confirmation, especially since I had recently started serving God in this capacity...⁣
⁣
A few months prior to taking the questionnaire, my husband helped me set-up a website called A Scriptured Life to share what I was learning about faith in my life. I found writing to be a helpful way for me research and understand the topics I was curious about, and it provided me with an opportunity to encourage others in their own faith. Now, four years have gone by, and I’ve continued to write about faith, as well as gratitude for life’s little blessings in a series of poetry books.⁣
⁣
God worked through Hope to light the next steps on my path. And, he did it in such an amazingly custom tailored way for a bookworm like me. I’m so thankful to be a piece of Hope. On most Saturday nights, you can find me working as a barista in one of my favorite places, Cafe Hope—next to the books, of course. Stop by and say hi!⁣
