From Portland With Love

Portland is a city of 650,000 people situated in a metro area of 2.1 million nestled as a wilderness outpost in the wild and scenic Pacific Northwest.
 
The people here are weird. We’re artsy. Crafty. Blue collar. Gritty. And passionate. The restaurants are first rate, try a biscuit. The coffee and beer are liquids to write home to Iowa about. The culture loves quality. Boy do we ever. Well-made things by well-meaning people. Hell, the Californians keep coming up.
 
What defines Portland more than anything else though, is that the city supports its own. Passionate people doing wild, creative, and innovative things. It’s a pioneering spirit buttressed by the support of the masses. The outpost serves as a port for ventures into the unknown. And often what comes back from the unknown are new things that people get to call made in Portland.
 
The Portland Track meets belong to the city. The rich running community formed by the many running groups, fans and athletes and the people sitting in the restaurants who used to be Californians.
 
The meets reflect the culture, and the creativity and attitude that comes with it.
 
Running in Portland isn’t like running in any other city on any other planet. It’s a unique experience created by the people here, who want you to venture into the unknown, and come back with something that they can name a beer or a donut after.
