On Friday, the Portland running community came together to celebrate the amazing life of Gabe Grunewald by running a 5k on a track where Gabe had raced a mile in 4:30 a few years earlier. Thank you to the bowermantc for getting the ball rolling on this great tribute, and to shalaneflanagan, emilyinfeld and emily_pritt for the beautiful words and stories about Gabe. She was known by many, but had a profound impact on many, many more who never got to meet her and were still deeply affected by simply watching her. Thank you again and again, Gabe for showing us kindness, exuberance and bravery. We will strive to follow in your footsteps and be brave on the track and off of it- even on the dance floor.
