Now a household name throughout C-USA softball, shannonsaile is on fire and has once again proved her worth after picking up a pair of wins and a save in the Panthers' sweep over LA Tech. The series win proved vital, as it clinched second place and a double bye for FIU in the C-USA Championship. In the opener, Saile tossed her second straight one-hit shutout, striking out eight in a complete-game effort. In game two, the freshman was called upon to close out the game, which she did effortlessly, striking out the side in the process. In the series finale, Saile hurled another gem, allowing just one run in another complete-game victory. Over the weekend, the rookie lowered her league-best ERA to 1.46 and also tied the FIU record with her eighth shutout. Her 215 strikeouts this season are second-best in a single season in Panther history. Over her last nine appearances, Saile won all seven starts (6-0 in C-USA), all complete games - three by shutout, and recorded a save in both relief appearances, allowing just 14 hits and one earned run, striking out 62 hitters in that span. In those games, which included wins against both division-leading teams, Marshall and LA Tech, she posted an ERA of 0.14 and an opponent batting average of .089.
