American writer, feminist and civil rights activist, #AudreLorde, speaking in her 1981 presentation, "The Uses of Anger: Women Responding to Racism."⁠
Self-described "black, lesbian, mother, warrior, poet”, Lorde explored intersectionality and challenged societal injustice in her poetry, prose, and essays from the 1960s until her death in 1992.⁠
Her creative and international campaigns for racial and gender equality encouraged resistance through language: dialogue, bearing witness, and the celebration of difference. ⁠
In June of last year, on the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, Lorde was one of the 50 inaugural names inducted on the National LGBTQ Wall of Honor within the Stonewall National Monument.⁠
