Prime Minister Narendra Modi has instituted a 21-day nationwide lock down to fight the spread of the #coronavirus #COVID19 inside the country. With millions of people living packed in slums and large portions of the population suffering from hypertension, diabetes and other underlying health conditions, it's possible that tens of millions could suffer severely from the contagion. Tens of thousands of out-of-work migrant workers have been stranded, with rail and bus services shut down. According to international labor organizations, the vast majority of India's workforce is employed in the informal sector and most do not have access to sick leave, paid leave or any kind of insurance.
