Grief-stricken mourners at the funeral service for Jiles Perry Richardson Jr, better known as #TheBigBopper.
It is 60 years since Richardson died in the same plane crash that killed fellow musicians #BuddyHolly and #RitchieValens, along with the pilot, Roger Peterson. 
Heroes for the burgeoning teenage movement, their musical influence still extends today - the Beatles covered Holly in their earliest recording, while Valens is considered the forefather of #ChicanoRock.
Remembered by Don McLean in his 1971 song, ‘American Pie’, February 3, 1959 will forever be “the day the music died”.
