See yesterday’s post to play all the levels 🤗

This video was months in the making! Here’s how we made it:

👉 Step 1 - The Pitch
I've wanted to create a "video game" using Instagram carousel posts for over a year now. When lego reached out to me, I thought this would be the perfect idea for them. Now's my chance to get this project funded! So I pitch them this idea, cross my fingers and wait... and they approve it!

👉 Step 2 - Storyboarding
I usually make test videos before I make a video for real, and for this one the test video was especially important because of how the experience was interactive - I needed to test it!

👉 Step 3 - Testing
I showed over a dozen people my storyboard and watched them play it. They found SO many issues. What you're seeing is the 8th version of the storyboard  - but in earlier versions, I had way too many levels, more confusing levels, timing that was too fast or too slow... and SO many other issues.

I'm so glad I did this step because we found so many issues here, and they are CHEAP to fix at this step (I can simply adjust my scrappy test video). I definitely wanted to find all the issues before shoot day

👉 Step 4 - Building Sets
trickybricks designed and built these sets (he freakin competed on LEGO Masters Season 1 !!) I'm constantly amazed by his ability to create anything from his imagination

👉 Step 5 - Shoot Day
Stop motion master eriqwities brought it to life! It's always surreal to watch him work and see him turn static pictures into a living moving creation. Thanks to the help of katemillerfilm who prepared, taped down, and helped animate many of the bricks

👉 Step 6 - Editing
eriqwities and I edited this together - he took care of the stop motion assembly and color, and I refined the timing of the all the interactive and text elements.

👉 Step 7 - Music & Sound Design
For most of my other videos I just use stock music, but for this one I wanted something special, so I decided to splurge on a custom music score for this. I asked silas_hite (Emmy-award winning composer!!) and he agreed!

👉 Step 8 - Post to Instagram
Whee!
