So many of you guessed right! The good ol’ reverse trick 🙃 Shoutout to erik_ortizz who was the first to guess correctly, literally seconds after the video was posted! windasyafiira and imaakashgupta also guessed correctly within the first minute.

Many of you also guessed reverse correctly, but thought I had someone helping me hold my hair up and then releasing it. No hair-holder needed, just a well-timed hair flip (it took tons of takes to get the timing right though)

I shot this for LG gram laptop! lgusa #LGPartner

I’ve been sitting on this idea since 2015, when I shot a test video on my smartphone. Back then I was just making videos for fun and this wasn’t my career yet. Fast forward to today, I was really excited to get to use this concept for lgusa as a floating visual to pair with their super light LG gram laptop.

It got to work with chrisvtv, the master of slow mo, to film this shot.

The biggest challenge was getting my movements just right:
🔸Flipping up at the right speed and angle so my hair would fall down neatly
🔸Timing my body movement so I looked stationary while my hair fell
🔸Timing the falling of my hair to the closing of my laptop
🔸Timing my facial expressions to the laptop
🔸Swinging the laptop up at just the right place to catch the light
🔸Acting my facial expressions and hand movements in reverse

And trying to keep all of that in mind in the span of 1 second! Eventually though with enough practice, it gradually started to become muscle memory. All in all it took about 30 takes for us to get it right

I’ve changed careers several times before my current one. Almost all of my filmmaking knowledge is self-taught, and there’s so much I don’t know. But sometimes that forces me to find the simple solution, instead of the complex one. I’ll be sharing more thoughts about changing careers in another IGTV video that I’ll be posting tomorrow!
