You don’t need any special video editing knowledge to do this shot. There’s no After Effects or masking or anything. Just tape your camera to the edge of an umbrella, and when it passes by your head, try to get it as close to your head as possible without touching it (this will help make for the smoothest transition possible) Then just cut to the next clip when it passes by your head. The camera I’m using is insta360 Go, which is very light and comes with a mount that you can stick to the umbrella (but I’d recommend reinforcing with some duct tape). For this shot, since much of the sky and surroundings are covered by the umbrella, it’s good to get grounds that look different from each other in order to make the transition feel like you’re changing worlds (which is why I have sand, grass, and water, all visually different). I shot this all in one day, but I’d love to see someone get this shot as a summer/winter transition, especially with snow. Tag me if you do it! I also wanted to get a shot with it raining, but we’re in drought season in California right now and it hasn’t rained for months! 
Recently I’ve started to learn After Effects which you’ll see in some of the videos I’m sharing in the next few weeks, but I’ll always have a soft spot for simple concepts like these without any need for special effects.
