Actor and Howard alum Chadwick Boseman made history yesterday, becoming the first-ever actor to be nominated for four SAG Awards in one year in the film categories. Posthumously, he is up for awards for: Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom), Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role (Da 5 Bloods), Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture (Da 5 Bloods and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom). 
 
We thought it appropriate to spotlight the incomparable actor, director, writer, and producer after he made history again! Boseman accomplished a great deal during his tenure in entertainment. 
 
An icon and legend. He portrayed several American icons throughout his career! His breakthrough role was as baseball legend Jackie Robinson in the movie 42. From there he would play, James Brown in Get on Up, and Thurgood Marshall (another #HowardU alum) in Marshall. No character would be more influential than his role as T'Challa aka Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, making appearances in Captain America: Civil War, The Avengers: Infinity War, The Avengers: End Game and of course - Black Panther. #WakandaForever 
 
Born in Anderson, South Carolina, he attended #HowardUniversity and studied at the Oxford Mid-Summer Program for acting, before moving to Los Angeles in 2008. 
 
He starred in several of the biggest movies ever made. Black Panther was released in February 2018, breaking box office records and earning more than $1 billion ($1.35 billion) worldwide. 
 
Boseman had a slue of honors and awards, with 26 wins and over 70 nominations.
 
Boseman died at his home as a result of complications related to colon cancer on August 28, 2020, with his wife and family by his side.
