It’s taken me a bit to process and put my emotions into words after the recent events in our country, and I apologize for that. The murder of George Floyd is absolutely horrific, disgusting, and simply wrong on so many levels. This sentiment of racism is inexcusable, especially in the contemporary world. It truly baffles me how it’s 2020, and we still judge and have biases against other humans simply because of the pigment in their skin. How ridiculous is that? The skin color of another human being should not, and will not define a person, much less subject them to prejudice. America, we will change.

As a white man, I understand that there are many circumstances, feelings, and emotions that I will never have to endure because of my skin color. I am sorry that I cannot truly understand the pain, suffering, and struggle that my brothers and sisters of color fight against everyday. However, please know, that I stand with you—racism will never be acceptable or tolerated. Being silent about this issue is no longer an option.

I would also like to say, I am extremely proud of the men and women who have a platform that are speaking out against these issues. More specifically, the prominent names in the sport of basketball; to you I say thank you. Thank you for using your platform for change. Thank you for leading people, regardless of your age or race.

God sees us. He sees the state of the world. Our God is not a distant God, but rather one that is present. God wants to be near. I pray for this country and for the people out protesting. Please stay safe and be smart. I encourage you to pray. Spend some time with God, and let Him work in your life. He is the only one in control.
