Winfield comes into this draft with not only a high profile name but a high profile game. Many remember the days of his father (antoine.winfield) locking down receivers and cutting down running backs, Winfield Jr has many similarities to his dad but also excels in other areas as well. He was a first-team Associated Press All-American and first-team All-Big Ten selection after leading Minnesota with 88 tackles (3.5 for loss, three sacks) and seven interceptions (returning one for a score). Winfield also broke up another pass and forced two fumbles on the year. The biggest knocks on him are for not having elite athleticism or ideal length but makes up for it with his instincts, high football IQ, and physicality. This man is a straight up ball hawk, his angles on routes are spectacular and when he makes his decision he shoots out of a cannon for that ball. He is dynamic triggering downhill and making tackles but he also has the coverage instincts and ball skills that make him an all-around playmaker.

Overall, I think Winfield Jr would be a dynamic defensive back in the Vikings secondary. His positional flexibility would allow Zimmer to keep his defense creative and pairing him with Smith could allow for us to use Smith more in the box and let Winfield range the back end and make plays. As long as he stays healthy, I believe Winfield will follow in the footsteps of his father and become a pro bowl caliber player. I would feel comfortable if the #Vikings used either of their 1st round selections on him as he’s been rising up draft boards due to his excellent combine showing and impressive film tape. Would love to see another Winfield lock down receivers for years to come! #Skol
