Everyone was born with a distinctive appearance. We all have our own manner of presenting ourselves, and for me, finding myself was once quite an adventure. I found my own way of displaying what I’m truly about by discovering my body, such as the beauties and flaws of it. Every person’s body is beautifully crafted with unmistakable forms, beautiful marks, as well as intricate curves and shapes, although, the most difficult part of recognizing distinct bodily features, is defining it as your own with confidence. When I see my own flaws, I often times listen to those voices from the past that suggest I cover them up in order to present perfection. Most of those flaws consist of scars from scrapes, cuts, and surgical incisions. Looking at those scars, I’ve caught myself keeping them hidden, but I typically forget that they are much more interesting than perfection. They are a not only a conversation starter, but parts of a story— my story, which involves the mental battles I’ve fallen into, the physical struggles that put my everyday life on hold, and the times I felt like I was headed towards a downward slope. Those are the things that made me discover the beauty I contain inside, the things that have made me stronger to the best of my ability. I am covered in what I once believed were flaws, but have grown to see that they are just marks of beauty that show my strength and courage. Everyone was born with a distinctive appearance, and the only way we can be confident in it, is finding a way to let it define the lovely features of our inner selves. “
