Our last senior shoutout is for Sydney Wenstrom - as written by sophomore Halye Barlow 🥰

When you think of Sydney, you can’t help but think of her fire. 🔥 She stands up for what she believes in, and uses that fire to make a difference. As bright as that fire is, she also has a beautiful, soft heart. When something goes wrong in my life, Sydney has been one of the first people to reach out and check in. She has had my back through thick and thin, as well as the backs of her teammates. Syd is so intelligent, and uses that intelligence to look at new angles to bring about change. 

The first time I really got to know her was by rowing a pair with her last year. As a freshman at the time I was nervous to be with a junior, but she was so kind and so patient. Syd used her words to encourage me, and her actions helped to guide and lift me up. Later that year we got to be roommates at several races, and we always had good conversations. She is fun to row and chat with, and it’s always a pleasure learning about her crazy baking skills. 👩‍🍳 

Sydney stepped into a leadership role this year with vision, confidence, and passion. She has led by example, and it has been an honor watching her grow as she has given her all for the Script A. ❤️ Sydney fights for her loved ones, and she has worked her way to the top. She has earned every PR, every award, and every acknowledgment, and will be able to leave UA knowing she gave this program her whole heart. I get sad thinking about not having her to say “Hey Hal!” each morning, but I know that wherever life takes her, she will soar. 🦅 

Syd, thank you for what you’ve done, but more than that, thank you for who you are. 🤗You will be missed, and I hope you leave with the assurance that your #TideFamily will always have your back like you have had ours. Keep that beautiful fire blazing. Love you girl. ❤️
