Since launching my demand for free and fair London Mayor elections, my new policy to move elections to the blockchain has gone viral.
 
In my exclusive Cointelegraph interview and video which appeared this afternoon, I talk extensively about how blockchain-based voting can restore the public’s trust in the electoral process and why, with fewer than half of the city’s residents voting in the last Mayoral election in 2021, now is the time to embrace technology enabled solutions:
 
“Wouldn’t we all sleep better at night if the voting system was on the blockchain and you could really prove that identity and you could actually prove that vote and there would be an immutable record? This is the future and I think it takes someone like me who comes from a business background who’s intimately involved in the blockchain.”
 
In a world where digital technology has transformed almost everything we do, it beggars belief that our voting system still relies on piles of paper, stubby pencils and grubby ballot boxes. 
 
While it is shocking that the authorities do not seem to care how vulnerable our voting system is, it is not surprising. Mainstream politicians collude to support the status quo, keeping our democratic machinery mired in the past, allowing two-party domination to endure.
 
I have a solution to this: by leveraging an immutable digital ledger, our voting process can be transparent and protected from the risks that voter fraud and a disinterested electorate present.
 
We need to engage with blockchain technology as a matter of urgency, and I implore our current Mayor and his stooges at the Electoral Commission to consider using a digital approach to ensure that the upcoming elections are transparent and accessible for all.
