“A Mother’s Courage: The Mary Thomas Story” is a Disney produced television film directed by John Patterson. The film follows Mary Thomas (portrayed by Alfre Woodard), the mother of NBA Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas. Mary, a tireless single mom, fights to free her family from the influence of the poverty and crime surrounding her West Side Chicago neighborhood. It was originally broadcast as a 2-part episode on The Magical World of Disney on NBC on December 3 and December 10, 1989.
