🎈Happy Birthday to artist Worthington Whittredge (1820-1910), a notable figure of the #HudsonRiverSchool! Whittredge began his artistic journey as a portrait painter but later found his passion in capturing the beauty of New York's Hudson River Valley through detailed #landscapepaintings.

Before joining the Hudson River School, Whittredge displayed his early landscapes at the Cincinnati Academy of Fine Arts. He later ventured to Europe and enrolled at Düsseldorf Academy in Germany. Following the footsteps of his contemporaries, Whittredge explored various European destinations, skillfully depicting majestic peaks like the Wetterhorn in the Swiss Alps and the Kallenfels in Germany.

After almost a decade abroad, Whittredge returned to the United States and made Summit, New Jersey his home. It was there that he continued his artistic journey, focusing on creating captivating landscapes that showcased the natural splendor of his surroundings.
