Shell Key is a 1,828-acre preserve which includes a 195-acre barrier island.
•
The Preserve serves as a significant  sanctuary for nesting, wintering, and migrating birds, as well as a popular fishing and boating area.
•
The Preserve is only accessible by water vessels like the Shell Key Shuttle. You won’t find facilities here —the barrier remains undeveloped.
