## Caption

Midwives save lives by providing essential sexual, reproductive, maternal and newborn health services.

When disasters such as climate events or conflict strike, midwives are most often the first responders for women, representing the single-most effective way to avoid preventable maternal deaths.

On Sunday’s International #DayoftheMidwife, we join unfpa — the ‌#UnitedNations sexual and reproductive health agency— in thanking these heroes around the world for their life-saving work. 🧡
