The end 🫢 - this was Day 2 on the infamous chain staircase at #havasupai—and as gorgeous as it is, the chains and wood ladder are wet, slippery and muddy— my tummy flipped 3+ times… (Location ⬇️)

TIPS to navigate the ‘trail’ to #MooneyFalls safely:

1. **Wear proper footwear**: Choose sturdy shoes with traction to navigate the rocky and slippery terrain. (We wore boots down, then switched to water shoes ✔️).

2. **Pack light**: Since you’re navigating steep terrain, it’s best to pack light. Bring essentials like water, snacks, sunscreen, and a first aid kit. Poles are also helpful for the many water crossings!

3. **Stay hydrated**: Bring plenty of water, as the hike can be strenuous and you’ll need to stay hydrated, especially in the desert heat.

✔️If you include the 17 mile trek to the Confluence bring a lightweight water purifier to refill water as you go. We love our msr_gear filter (in bio)). 

4. **Use the chains**: The chains along the trail are there to assist you in navigating the steep sections safely. Hold onto them firmly and take your time. 

5. **Be patient of others**: The trail is narrow in places, so be courteous and pls don’t pass on the chains (someone did this to our friend 🫨). 

✔️If you want to have the chains to yourself, like we did—leave your campsite at 5am! 

6. **Respect the environment**: Take care to leave no trace and respect the natural beauty of the area 🙏. Take out ALL your trash. 

7. **Know your limits**: Be honest with yourself about your fitness level and hiking experience. If you’re not comfortable with heights or steep terrain, it’s okay to turn back. And truly— it’s worth preparing at your local trails 👍.
