"We got our start in the branding design and development space. About five years ago we catapulted our agency Top Hat builtbytophat (which we also still own and operate) into the beer industry with an award-winning campaign called "Will Work for Beer." The effort attracted regional breweries, and ultimately, helped us land Pittsburgh Brewing Company where we went on to redesign Iron City and IC Light. ⁠
After working with over a dozen craft breweries, and designing literally over a thousand unique beer cans, we decided it was time to try our hands at our own brewery.⁠
For me personally (Ben here), I didn't want to just start it without a distinct vision, so I waited for inspiration. Studying for my Certified Cicerone® (the equivalent of the Sommelier of the beer world), I came across a category called "Historical Beer," which detailed beers that all "but died out in modern times." ⁠
The idea of resurrecting dead beer styles was the inspiration I had been looking for. It formed the core concept of the brewery — as "Necromancers" resurrect dead things — and the rest is history."⁠

What gets you excited to go to work every day?⁠
"What gets us up in the morning is being able to build things. The brewery is the ultimate vehicle for creating new brands, products, events, and more. ⁠
We're fortunate to be surrounded by an incredibly talented team — helmed by industry veteran Lauren Hughes — that inspires us in new ways every day. They make the goals of the brewery come true with their passion, hard work, and expertise."⁠
