In honor of the 25th #TuckDivCo and #TuckW50, the DivCo student co-chairs are highlighting three “Women of DivCo” this week, leading up to the official start of the conference on Friday! Today, we share one of the Tuck community’s most beloved members, Dia Draper, director of strategic initiatives. Dia was asked to share a moment she experienced at Tuck that illustrated the importance of diversity.

“I can think of several examples around the friction that occurs when people don’t have experience with folks different from them, or conversely when students of difference don’t see anyone who ‘looks’ like them or shares their lived experience. These interactions often cause offense or harm, but I think that Tuck has the intimacy and spirit that we often translate those moments into teaching/learning/healing moments,” Dia says. “Another favorite example is Curt Welling, who teaches a mock class during the Tuck Diversity Conference based on an LGBTQIA+ case for a major dating application. The response that we received from DivCo participants the first year he taught the case was so positive and warm, and those who share the identity or are deep allies to LGBTQIA+ community were especially grateful and touched that they were ‘seen’ and represented in an elite MBA program.”
