Nearly a decade ago, Aspen Skiing Company helped to transform a local coal mine into a power plant that converts methane emissions into clean energy. Did you know that all coal plants emit methane?? (Sorry, canaries.) Capturing that gas and converting it into energy that can be put back onto the grid is a great way not only to harness a new clean energy source, but also to prevent the emission of methane into our atmosphere.

Today, the plant we helped spearhead churns out 24 million kilowatt hours a year, and prevents 250 billion cubic feet of methane from entering the atmosphere annually. #75YearsOfAspenSnowmass
