canisiushsrow took gold in six events at the John Bennett Regatta on Sunday at the West Side Rowing Club.
 
The Crusaders were led by the Varsity Eight, which won by 2.6 seconds over the 2023 Canadian National Champions E.L. Crossley (Ontario). The crew of Max Burget ’24, Peter Cross ’24, Liam Feeney ’25, Isaiah Aljuwani ’25, Ethan Pirigyi ’26, Alex Pusateri ’24, Thomas Skowron ’25, James Dodman ’24 and Teddy Hibbard ’24 took control of the race from the opening strokes and led wire to wire.
 
The Second Varsity Eight posted a thrilling second half of the race to win by one length over E.L. Crossley. Mark Kadiev ’24 led the crew of Owen Gray ’26, Meer Renschler Pandey ’25, Aydan Weese ’25, Lorn Anderson ’24, Tommy Snyder ’26, Evan Dahl ’26, Matt Zakrezwski ’25 and Leo Mertz ’26.
 
Canisius finished both first and second in the Junior Four category when Meer Renschler Pandey ‘25, Oliver Reynolds ’26, Kohler Stewart ’25, Owen Gray ’26 and Noah Rajecki ’25 competed against teammates Zack Benczkowski ’26, Patrick Basil ’26, Trevor Wierzbowski ’25, Toe Toe ’25 and Leo Mertz ’25.
 
In another 1-2 placement, Feeney/Aljuwani and Burget/Dodman brought home medals in the Pairs event.
 
Canisius heads to Saratoga Springs for the New York State Championships on May 11-12 in an attempt to win state titles and qualify crews for both the Scholastic National Championships in Pennsauken, New Jersey and the Youth National Championships in Sarasota, Florida.
