Sometimes the best way to change a life is through a #story! STARFISH by lisafippsauthor is about Ellie, a girl who’s been criticized for her weight her entire life. Ellie‘s mother and siblings discriminate her and are never supportive. At the beginning of the story, all Ellie has is her father and one best friend, she’s bullied, teased, and feels utterly alone at school. Eventually her parents take her to a therapist to help her find ways to eat healthier & for her to get ready for, wait what? Weight loss surgery! That’s right, even though Ellie isn’t old enough for this dangerous type of procedure, her mother is threatening Ellie, unless she starts dieting. But something unexpected happens when Ellie starts talking to her therapist.  Ellie uses her voice and is listened to. Ellie begins to find herself, listen to herself and speak up for herself. And, Ellie begins to feel comfortable in her own skin and soon, she even feels comfortable taking up space. With her new self-worth, Ellie stands up to her bullies at school and at home! A story we all need to read!! 

I absolutely love the way Ellie’s story makes me feel. Starfish is one of my favorite #mglit #reads and it’s a #book many types of #readers can enjoy!
