#BlackHistoryFact: Mrs. Xernona Clayton-Brady, 91 was the first Black woman in the south to host her own prime-time TV talk show. Brady graduated from TSU in 1952 and in 1968, she launched “Variations” which featured notable guests as Lena Horne and Harry Belafonte. She eventually joined Turner Broadcasting where she was vice president for public affairs and became founder of the Trumpet Awards. She also is a longtime civil rights activist.
