Gazan kindergarteners mourn the murder of our brave Sherine Abu Aqleh. She was not just a journalist, she was the voice of truth, she was a Palestinian icon, a woman that challenged the occupation for years, always brave, always putting her home first. Today Palestine lost an icon. Today we all lost something. I honestly have never seen someone who’s as loved. All of Palestine is grieving, all of Palestine is crying.. 
Sherine has dedicated her whole life literally for fighting against an oppressive regime, to give the Palestinian people a voice, to make us feel heard and seen and today she was shot in the head for that. I woke up to my mother crying her brutal murder and as I went to work I couldn’t look at my colleagues in the eye as this is so traumatising for them, they remembered Yasser Mourtaja, a Palestinian journalist and the founder of Ain Media, their friend who was shot just like Sherine. As I walked by the streets I saw tons of press cars arriving at Aljazeera office (our neighbours) to pay their condolences for the loss of Sherine. I struggled  to work, to focus, to even breathe when everything I was thinking about was her and that this could’ve been any of us and at any moment. Sherine was a friend, a mentor, a role model to every Palestinian even if they never met her. It was enough for us to watch her for 25 years on TV, learn from her bravery and admire her strength. Sherine threatened the occupation with her truth, as all of us do, for simply existing and for reminding the world that we deserve to live. 
Rest in power and peace ya habibti. الله يصبر كل البلاد
