This is my tortoise (Caspar) that my family got for me 8/9 years ago, he’s been living with us since then, I left Gaza 5 years ago and I haven’t seen my family since. My mother used to feed Caspar everyday, my dad used to take him on the roof and video call me, my brother loved him as our first pet. My family loved Caspar because he was mine, and it was something that always reminded them of me while I’m away. My dad used to say this is something from you, Caspar is so precious. Caspar was killed today in my home, our neighbours house was bombed without any warning and I couldn’t reach my family for 30 mins while not knowing if they’re alive or dead. Our windows and doors are gone, my Caspar is gone, my neighbours home is gone, my brother is traumatised, I am struggling with my post traumatic disorder but it’s not post trauma, it did not stop, we are living in the trauma every single day. I’m still shaking and I don’t think I have any more tears left. The second picture is my neighbourhood, this is not just destruction, this is not just a tortoise! This is history, this is people’s lives, this is people’s families, this is people’s homes. Thank god my family and my neighbours are alive but they’re not okay and I’m not okay and no one in Gaza or Palestine is okay. Please keep spread information, please keep exposing those criminals, please help me and help Palestine. I miss my camp, I miss my people, I miss Gaza and everything in it. I’m so heartbroken that I will never say bye to Caspar or see him again. Even the animals are not safe, no one is safe, they even bombed the dead in cemeteries. They’re destroying our beautiful Gaza, wallah my heart aches every day since I’ve left Gaza. I left and it never left me. She’s with me and her people are with me every singles day every second. More than 30 children have been killed and hundreds of Palestinian civilians are being injured and traumatised for life. Yarab help Gaza and help Palestine.
