## Caption

The 1996-97 NNC Women’s Basketball Team finished the season 27-7 overall & 10-2 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. With the CCC title and NAIA Tournament automatic berth in hand, they won 5 straight games in the tourney to capture the National Championship.

Erica Walton was named the NAIA Tournament MVP, 1st Team All-Tournament, and an NAIA All-American. Kari Smith also earned 1st Team All-Tournament and All-American honors. Finally, head coach Roger Schmidt received the NAIA National Coach of the Year award.
