Raúl de Nieves gathers thousands of plastic beads and other discarded, commercially produced materials to create his evocative figures. Here, vintage millinery patches adorn a mannequin, fusing craft, performance, and fashion to construct wearable sculpture. De Nieves implements the language of performance in his work, wearing his creations as a member of the performance artist duo Somos Monstros [We are Monsters]. ⁠
