After 12 years of working for others in real estate, including Harbor Bay Hospitality, which owns the Intro Building, Dan Whalen is starting his own real estate firm.

The former quarterback at Willoughby South High School, Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Gladiators hopes to turn the parking lot at the corner of Lorain Avenue and West 26th Street in Ohio City into a boutique hotel. 

"This neighborhood desperately needs and would benefit from a neighborhood-driven boutique hotel," he says. "There’s so much activity in this neighborhood yet there’s no hotel west of the (Cuyahoga) River until you get to the airport.”
